Theme: Malaria Ends With Us – Reinvest, Reimagine, Reignite

On April 25, 2025, Community Preventive Medical Care (CPMC) joined the world in commemorating World Malaria Day with a vibrant community celebration in Nakitun. In line with this year’s global theme—“Malaria Ends With Us: Reinvest, Reimagine, Reignite”—the event brought together a united front of local voices and leaders committed to ending malaria for good.

A Community-Driven Celebration

Our gathering in Nakitun was a testament to the power of grassroots mobilization. Community leaders, church representatives, women’s groups, and the youth turned out in great numbers to learn, share, and renew their dedication to malaria prevention and control.

The day was not only about raising awareness—it was also about empowering the people of Nakitun with knowledge and tools. One of the highlights of the celebration was an interactive malaria quiz, where participants demonstrated impressive understanding of malaria prevention and symptoms. As a reward for their engagement, 30 insecticide-treated mosquito nets were distributed to the top scorers—a practical gift with life-saving potential.

Honored Guests and Inspiring Messages

The event was honored by the presence of CPMC’s Chairperson of the Board of Directors, Dr. Akim Nyuon, whose words of encouragement inspired renewed commitment to collective action. Also in attendance were our Executive Director, Dr. Sallah, and Program Manager, Dr. Hanna Samuel, who both emphasized the importance of community-led prevention strategies and continuous reinvestment in health education and resources.

Reinvest. Reimagine. Reignite.

The event echoed the global call to:

Reinvest in health systems and frontline communities,

Reimagine how we can tackle malaria with new tools and innovations,

Reignite the spirit of unity and determination to end malaria in our generation.

As Dr. Sallah stated during his remarks, “The fight against malaria is not just a health campaign—it’s a movement. And that movement begins here, with all of us.”

Looking Ahead

CPMC remains committed to supporting Nakitun and other communities with sustainable preventive care, ongoing health education, and the resources needed to create a malaria-free future.

Together, Malaria Ends With Us—in Nakitun and beyond.
